Mysuru: Sandalwood Star Darshan Thoogudeepa, veteran actor Devraj, his son Prajwal Devraj and two others met with an accident as their car toppled on the outer ring road near JSS Urban Haat, Mysore.
Darshan along with his cine star friends was returning to Bengaluru from Mysuru in his RD Q7 car (KA 51-Z-7999) before the accident occurred. When the driver tried to negotiate a curve, the driver lost control over his vehicle and hit the street light resulting in the toppling of the car. The locals immediately shifted Darshan, Devaraj, Prajwal and two of his friends to Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru where they are undergoing treatment.
Darshan is suffering from a right forearm fracture and muscle injury and was operated upon by Dr. Ajay Hegde, Consultant Orthopaedician, Columbia Asia Hospital successfully. Devaraj sustained injuries on his left hand finger while Darshan’s friend Roy Anthony has a fracture of the right humerus. Prajwal Devraj too suffered minor injuries and is under observation.
Dr. Upendra Shenoy, Cardiac Surgeon and Chief of Medical Services, Columba Asia Hospital said, “Darshan requires a couple of weeks to get ready and we need at least 48 hours to decide on when he should be discharged. We have put nearly 25 stitches on Darshan’s hand. Devaraj also underwent surgery on his left hand fingers. The other two have suffered minor injuries and are under observation. At the outset all the four are doing well. They are being treated by Dr. Ajay Hegde and plastic surgeon Dr. Vijay.
Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh also visited Columbia Asia Hospital and spoke to Darshan and his family members. Darshan also released an audio requesting his fans not to visit the hospital as it may disturb the patients who are undergoing treatment. His wife also said that he was doing well and would be discharged soon.
