Nanjangud: In view of the upcoming Bakrid and Hanuman Jayanti celebrations scheduled for June 21, the Mysuru District Police held a peace meeting on June 7 at the Nanjangud city police station. The session was led by Additional Superintendent of Police Mallick and DySP Raghu, bringing together community leaders from Nanjangud and T. Narasipur taluks.

The objective of the meeting was to ensure communal harmony and public safety during the festivals. Authorities urged all community members to celebrate peacefully, stressing that India’s diversity should be respected and preserved through mutual understanding and cooperation.

A key concern raised was the misuse of vehicles during festivities. ASP Mallick warned that reckless wheeling or dangerous driving, particularly when shared on social media, will lead to legal action, including the filing of FIRs. He further reminded attendees of a previous incident in Kavalande village, where provocative slogans like “Chhota Pakistan” were shouted during Bakrid. He emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated this year.

All participants were requested to report any suspicious or provocative activities immediately to the nearest police station to avoid escalation. The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order during the celebrations.

Also present at the meeting were Circle Inspector Chandrashekhar, PSIs Sunil Kumar, Ravi Shankar, and Ravindra, along with other law enforcement personnel and local leaders.
