Mysuru: Thanks to an anonymous petition to the top cop, a year old disgraceful honour killing case has been exposed in Nadappanahalli in K R Nagar.
Sunitha, a 15-year-old girl fell in love with a relative from the same village. The boy developed physical relationship with the girl promising her of marriage and then ended up cheating her. Sunitha’s parents Puttaraja Shetty and Leelamma who were not happy with their daughter’s affair with a distant relative allegedly killed her on January 5, last year.

The incident came to light only when the Superintendent received an anonymous letter/petition which claimed that it might be a murder.  The parents allegedly took her to a farm, killed her and placed a poison bottle near the body. The grieving parents then convinced the villagers that she committed suicide.

Based on the anonymous letter, the Mysuru police took Puttaraju into custody for questioning and consequently minor’s father confessed to committed the crime. K R Nagar police have registered a case and are further investigating.
