Among those appearing for the exams, 12,932 students will be appearing for commerce, 12,082 for science and 9,671 for arts stream. All these students will be appearing in 50 examination centres which are spread across the district including 26 examination centres across the city alone. Last year, though the district slipped to 17th in the state, its pass percentage had gone up by more than 7 percent. The overall pass percentage in 2017 was 60.3 percent while last year it was was 67.7 percent.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Dayananda, DDPU, Mysuru district said “For smooth conduct of exam we have come out with 50 examination centres with all centres equipped with CCTV cameras. At each centre an average of nearly 600 to 700 students will be appearing for exams. Apart from chief superintendent no one is allowed to carry mobile phones at the examination hall. To keep tab on malpractices we have formed various squads including sitting squads at each centre. To each Taluk, the question papers will be distributed from district treasury through GPS fitted vehicles which will reach the examination centre an hour before the start of the exam. Every day the exam starts at 10.15 AM but we have instructed students to be at examinational hall 30 minutes well before the commencement of the exam”.

Mysuru was ranked 11th among the districts in II PUC examinations in 2016, before sliding to 14th the following year, and 17th rank in 2018. While the pass percentage was 60.3% in 2017, it rose to 67.7% last year. While students pursuing science and commerce came out with impressive results of 76% and 60% respectively. Keen on improving the district’s rankings, Deputy Director of pre-university education, Mysuru, Dayananda, had instructed colleges to have special classes. Special classes were held even during the Dasara holidays in colleges across the district. With these overall efforts Mysuru is eyeing for top 10 ranking in state this year.
