Attention shoppers! Mysuru Shopping Festival from Sept 24 to Nov 5

Mysuru: Safe Wheels Group of Companies in association with Karnataka Tourism Mysore Travel Association, Hotel Owners Association and Mysore Jewellers Association will be conducting a 43-day ‘Mysuru Shopping Festival’ on the lines of Dubai Shopping Festival from September 24 to November 5.

Those shopping at these stores for minimum of Rs 500 will be eligible for lucky dip drawn every day and weekly and can win 4gm gold coins, electronic gadgets, two-wheelers, bicycles, cars and the luckiest can win luxury car. At all these stores, not only quality is assured, but also attractive discount is also offered to the customers.

Prashanth, Chairman of Mysuru Shopping Festival addressing mediapersons at a private hotel here on Monday said, “Mysuru is undoubtedly the pride of Karnataka tourism legacy with its world renowned Dasara and historic places in and around the city. It is also ranked as the first cleanest city in the country which is an added feather to its cap. Mysuru has been able to contribute greatly to the state tourism and thus generate revenue. Mysuru shopping festival will help in improving the city’s popularity not only with respect to tourism, but also in trade and commerce. The vision of Mysuru Shopping Festival is to help in increasing shopping in Mysuru, leading to an increase in the demand for newer productsand to an increase in jobs and bringing about growth in the community. Every day at an average, people in Mysuru buy goods worth Rs 1 crore online. If the same step into the shops and buy things, not only the businessmen will grow, but also the economy of Mysuru will improve. During weekend, more than 80,000 people come to Mysuru. If we tap these people, definitely in days to come, the economy of Mysuru can be boosted.

“People coming for dasara can rejoice because of Mysuru shopping festival. There are nearly 3500 shops in Mysuru. Among them already nearly 1000 have tied up with Mysuru Shopping festival and in days to come, more will be added. Most of the shops which are tied up with Mysuru Shopping Festival are located in Devaraja Urs road, Sayaji Rao road, Ashoka road and Kalidasa road; it will be a new experience for shoppers and visitors. The stores have been categorized into traditional stores, general stores, recreational and lifestyle establishments including hotels, restaurants, spas and supermarkets and jewellery showrooms. During the shopping festival, to create an environment of fun and masti, renowned artists including Vasundara Das, Ananya Bhat, Jonitha Gandhi, Kunal Ganjawala and others will be performing during the weekends and also have planned to have folklore dances in the streets of central business district,” added Prashanth.

Dasara lights till November 5

“To give festive look throughout Mysuru Shopping Festival, Dasara lights at Devaraj Urs Road and KR Circle will be there till November 5. As we are the sponsors for these lights, we have requested the authorities to extend these lights till November 5,” pointed Prashanth. Cine star Sudeep is the brand ambassador for the event.

Mahesh Sharma, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Government of India will inaugurate the event on September 24 at Mysuru Palace North Gate at 6pm. District Minister HC Mahadevappa, MLA Vasu and former minister SA Ramdass will be present. Sudeep is also expected to join the event.

Narayanagowda, president, hotel owners association, Janardhan, Deputy Director, Tourism Department, Jayakumar, President, Mysuru Travels Association and Amarnath, President of Mysuru Jewellers Association were present.
