Mysuru: The two-day protest by nationalised bank employees has impacted the day-to-day transactions here on Friday December 17. The United Forum of Bank Unions has called for a nationwide protest against privatisation of nationalised banks.
The protestors, who had gathered in large numbers near the State Bank of India Office on Sayyaji Rao Road here held a demonstration denouncing the Centre’s decision. They said, “Banks’ role in most of the sectors is crucial. Banks also help State and Central Governments to implement many projects. Without realising their importance, the Centre is out to privatise them.”
They added, “If some of the private banks are doing badly it is because of mismanagement but the nationalised banks are doing a good job. The privatisation move will hit the financial condition of the country badly.”
