Boost for Tourism: International sport skydiving enters cultural city

Mysuru: The Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, D Randeep flagged off the adventurous international sport-skydiving in the cultural city as a part of tourism promotion.
Speaking at the Mandakalli airport, the DC expressed joy over the entry of skydiving into the city and invited people to experience the adventure and thrill associated with the sport.

Department of Tourism Secretary Naveen Raj Singh said, “Mysuru provides ideal atmosphere for the sport. I hope tourists avail the benefit during the next two months.” He assured of safety measures and asserted there were no risks associated with the sport.

Skydiving involves jumping from a chopper or an aircraft using parachutes from the altitude of 15000 feet and will cost around Rs 35000 per head.

Manivannan, Secretary to Department of Social Welfare took the maiden jump and ran out of words to explain his personal experience soon after landing.

State Tourism Department is venturing into skydiving after it tasted success with adventurous activities in Hampi and Udupi.

Those interested must have attained the age of 18 to join and will have to undergo training from experts in the field.

Mysureans have an opportunity during the next two months to get trained in this International sport popular in countries like America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
