BSY does a tight rope walk on media curbs

Mysuru: Former chief minister and BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa made very careful observations while addressing media on March 23 after the constitution of House Panel to restrict arbitrary reporting, keeping an eye on the ensuing by-polls.

He did not take sides but only exuded confidence in the right functioning by the four pillars of democracy, wherein the media does not cross the limits on reporting.

It may be recalled that Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad on March 22 announced the formation of the House Committee to draw Lakshman Rekha for the electronic media and thereby preventing them from sensationalising trivial family disputes, crime and ghost stories for increasing TRP (Television Rating Point).  This decision was taken after members in both the Houses, cutting across party lines, came down heavily on irresponsible reporting by the media, particularly 24×7 news channels.

On veteran politician S M Krishna’s entry, BSY said, the party’s strength had increased fourfold and would increase the BJP’s clout in the Vokkaliga dominated districts of Mandya and Ramanagara.

On arrival from Delhi, Krishna will be welcomed at party office, BSY said. He also expressed confidence in party winning 25 seats in Bengaluru city alone in the next Assembly elections.

The party will win by a majority of 25000 votes in both the by-polls scheduled to be held in Nanjanagud and Gundlupet after prominent dalit leader Srinivas Prasad’s entry into the party fold, said BSY and sounded confident about 90 percent of dalits voting in BJP’s favour.
