Chain snatchers or a looting spree strike gold 5 times in 1.5 hours!

Mysuru: In separate incidents, the bike borne chain snatchers targeted five women in a daring series of thefts carried out in broad daylight in city here on Thursday, May 2. The police suspect that the same gang could be behind all the incidents. All the five incidents took place within one and half hour and the total gold which was taken away by the chain snatchers weigh 161 gm with a value of Rs 4.48 Lakh.

The first incident was reported from Vidyaranyapuram Police Station limits at around 6.35 AM. the bike borne chain snatchers targeted a 60-year-old Jayamma who was walking on Vidyaranyapuram link road along with her friend. The miscreants snatched her 22 gm chain and sped away at a lightning speed. In the second incident reported in the same police station limits, the victim was 65-year-old Jayalakshmi. When she was walking alone on Akkamahadevi Road at around 6.45 AM, the bike borne chain snatchers grabbed her 12 gm chain.

The third chain snatching incident was reported in Nazarbad Police Station limits at around 6.55 AM. Here, the victim was 79-year-old B Suganadevi. When she was walking to get milk from a shop near Karaga Temple in Ittigegud, the bike borne chain snatchers took away her 80 gm gold chain. After this heist, the snatchers shifted their location to V V Puram Police Station limits. At around 7 AM, they snatched a 7 gm gold chain from 55-year-old Gayathri Chandrashekar when she stepped out of her house to draw Rangoli in Gokulam third stage near Subramanya Temple on KRS road. Later, the miscreants shifted their location to Narasimharaja Police Station limits where they snatched 40 gm gold chain from 80-year-old Lalithamma who was on her morning walk.

Soon after these serial incidents, the police authorities held an emergency meeting and formed teams to nab the culprits involved in the crime. The police is also checking the CCTV cameras for clues.
