Chamraj Nagar: The Chairman of the Forest Industrial Development Corporation, CS. Niranjana Kumar offered ‘Bagina’ pooja at the Karakalamadahalli and Yeriyur lake in the Gundlupet taluk which have been overflowing under the irrigation project.

The pooja for the water goddess ‘Gange’ was given as a thank you for filling the lakes which were mostly dry without any water. This brings good news to the farmers who have been finding it hard to fill water for irrigation.

Speaking on the occasion, Niranjanakumar said that this is the result of the funds released by Former CM Yedirurappa. “When BS Yeddyurappa was the CM, he released Rs 212 crore for lake renovation and we are getting the result of the same and the ponds are being filled with water now,” he said.

“Of the nine lakes, Bommalapur, Amani and Kaltaka lakes are filled and the rest of the pools have been watered one by one under this irrigation project”, he added.

This period has seen a lot of lakes, which were dry, being filled. Apart from being a benefit to the farmers, this project will help to increase the ground water level also.
