Chamarajanagara: Amid modernisation bullocks even now play a pivotal role in the life of farmers in rural areas. The farming community also raises cattle by treating them as family members.
On Monday December 12, a farmer in Panyadahundi Village of Chamarajanagara Taluk honoured bullocks by bringing them to witness his marriage. The bride-groom Mahesh expressed his desire to bring bullocks to the marriage. The family members also responded positively. They decorated the bullocks and brought them to the marriage hall. A shamiyana was also erected beside Kalyana Mantapa for bullocks.
The newlywed couple took photographs with bullocks. It is said that the bullocks cost Rs. 2 lakh.
Speaking to reporters groom’s father Basavarajappa told that the bullocks are like our family members. “When son Mahesh expressed this desire, we all respected his wish and responded positively. He said it’s a way of honouring pet animals and paying back their debt as it works for us throughout the year.
