Chamarajanagara: Following heavy rainfall, the road to Gopalaswamy Hill from the foothill has been damaged. As a precautionary measure, the Forest Department has stopped the movement of vehicles.
Due to the incessant rainfall in the last few days, potholes have cropped up on the road connecting Gopalaswamy Hills and Hangala checkpost causing transportation difficulties. Usually, KSRTC buses ply from the bottom to the hill and also in the reverse direction for the benefit of devotees, as there is a ban on the movement of private and tourist vehicles.
Now, Forest personnel are diverting vehicles from the main road itself, to avoid further inconvenience to tourists and travellers alike. On weekends during Saturday and Sunday, many tourists throng Gopalaswamy Hill. They are now returning disappointed as they are caught unaware of the situation at the hill. The hill is also one of the ranges of Bandipur Tiger Reserve Forest.
