Chamarajanagara: Imprisonment under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting minor

Chamarajanagara: A child-friendly and First Additional District and Sessions Court on Friday December 30 sentenced a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old minor girl.

The convict has been identified as Mahesh (28), a resident of Yelandur Town in the District. On September 30, 2019, he sexually assaulted the minor girl.

Yelandur Town Police Station Circle Inspector A. K. Rajesh had registered a case against the accused and filed a chargesheet in the Court under the POCSO Act.

The city’s child-friendly Court and Additional District and Sessions Judge Nisharani sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The Court also ordered that Rs. 4 Lakh from the District Legal Services Authority should be paid to the victim within 30 days as compensation.

Yogesh had argued on behalf of the Government.
