Chamarajanagara: The forest officials on Monday March 7 rescued 3 Brahmini kites from the house of the accused in a stone quarry tragedy in Madahalli in Gundlupet Taluk.
It is said that the accused Hakeem, leasee of the quarry, is a native of Kerala who reared the birds in his house in Gundlupet. Officials from the Bandipura Tiger Reserve (BTR) raided the house after receiving information and found four illegally rearing birds.
Hakeem and quarry owner Mahendrappa have been absconding after the deaths of three workers. Two suspects have been caught in a trap set by the police.
The BTR forest officers have registered a case under the 1972 wildlife protection act and are searching for the accused.
