Chamarajanagar: Former MLA and BJP leader C Guruswamu (68), died on Wednesday morning.
He was tested positive for COVID-19 on August 5 and on Wednesday morning he died due to a heart attack, said sources.
He was the first BJP MLA of Chamarajnagar, who had trounced Vatal Nagaraj in 1999 and prevented the latter from becoming the MLA for third consecutive term.
Between 1999-2004, he quit the BJP and joined the Congress, however, he returned to the BJP after a while.
A lawyer by profession, he is survived by his wife and two daughters.
