Chamarajanagar: The last rites of deceased Minister for Co-operation and Sugar H S Mahadeva Prasad will be held in his native village-Halahalli of Beguru Hobli in Gundlupet on Wednesday evening, January 4.

It is said that the mortal remains of the Minister will be buried next to the place where his father Srikantashettar and mother Veeramma were laid to rest in a plantation owned by the family. The rites would be performed according to Veerashaiva traditions and several religious heads had started the preparations for the same at 11.30 am on Wednesday.

Arrangements have been made around the plantation to accommodate people thronging the place to have last glimpses of their leader.

Halahalli was dear to the Minister who made sure that school, roads, drinking water, drainage system and all other facilities came to the village. Mahadeva Prasad was found dead in a resort room in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday morning.
