I did not invite Ragini for campaigning, clarifies Minister Narayan Gowda

Chamarajanagar: Minister for Municipal Administration, Sericulture and Horticulture KC Narayan Gowda has said that he was unaware of the nexus that actor Ragini Dwivedi had with the drug peddlers.

After Ragini’s links with the drug mafia came under scanner and she was arrested in this connection recently, the BJP had to face embarassment because she was the star campaigner for the party, specifically Narayan Gowda, who contested and won from KR Pete constituency in the recent bypolls.

Clarifying on these lines, Gowda, speaking to reporters on Monday said that he has no connection with the Sandalwood industry and it was a few well-wishers of the party who got her for campaigning.

“I had not invited her as star campaigner becauseI have no acquaintances in the industry. If she was taking part in the campaign, I did not object,” he said adding that a few are unnecesarily trying to link the BJP with the actor.

He opined that the opposition is trying to dent the image of the party by making baseless allegations about the BJP members trying to protect the actor.

“Nobody from the BJP is standing by Ragini,” he said.
