Chamarajanagara: Recently the population of stray dogs have increased not only in the cities but in bordering villages as well. For people of Santhemarahalli mother and child care, hospital is nothing less than a nightmare because of the pack of dogs that have made the hospital premises their home. They have now started scaring and chasing away the visitors and the patients. The locals blame the hospital authorities for the situation.

The hospital has been inaugurated in the premises of the public health centre about one year ago here. The hospital does not have a permanent doctor and depends on the services of a visiting doctor. Pregnant women from the surrounding areas of Deshavalli, Basavatti, Kavudavadi, tellanuru, Heggavadipura, Kempanapura, Hosamaole and other villages come to the hospital for treatment.

The patients visiting the hospital are constantly scared by the dogs and the locals say that the dogs can even attack and maul the patients.

The group D workers of the old and the new hospital who were under contract from a private firm were removed from duty last week and since then the dogs have been moving freely all over the hospital premises.

The authorities have to take appropriate actions before any tragic episode occurs, request the locals.
