Mysuru: Close on the heels of death of Minister for Co-operation H S Mahadeva Prasad, a section of people have been demanding Congress ticket to his wife Githa Mahadeva Prasad from his constituency, ie Chamarajanagar Assembly segment.

It may be recalled that the minister died of cardiac arrest on January 3 in a private resort in Chikkamagaluru. With the constituency soon running into a by poll a strong sense of demand seems to be building up for Githa Mahadeva Prasad to enter politics. Since Mahadeva Prasad had initiated a lot of developmental works in his constituency, which are all due to be inaugurated in February or March, majority of people in the constituency feel that Mahadeva Prasad’s political vision can be carried forward by his wife, considering the fact that his son does not seem to be interested in politics.

“The best person to step into Mahadeva Prasad’s show is his wife Gita Prasad. When Mahadeva Prasad was there, Gita also used to attend the people. She is the ideal person to replace the minister,” said Raju, a 60-year-old resident of Chamarajanagar.

The Congress is facing the acid test in Nanjangudu constituency where it will be taking on former Congress leader and minister Srinivas Prasad. It is said that Sunil Bose is considered as the most preferred candidate of the Congress to fight out Srinivas Prasad. The fate of Chamarajanagar in the ensuing by-polls is to be waited and watched for.
