Mysuru: A fight between the government and the priests of the famous Chamundeshwari Temple may affect the rituals including various poojas offered to Goddess Chammundeshwari.
Reason for the fight
According to the 6th Pay Commission, the salaries of all the purohits (priests) under the Muzari Department need to be hiked by 30 percent hike. Despite an order by the Commissioner of the Muzrai Department, the bonus too has not been given, lament the priests.
Moreover, they have charged the government for not making the positions of 70 workers permanent.
Even submitting a memorandum to the officials, local representatives and the chief minister has not yielded any result, they added.
Following this, temple priests have decided to boycott their duties on December 14.
