Mysuru: Litterateur Chennaveera Kanavi will be officially invited on September 3 to inaugurate the Dasara festival, said District in-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa. The Dasara festival will be inaugurated by Kanavi by offering a prayer to Goddess Chamundeshwari at the hilltop temple on October 1.
Addressing a news conference, Mahadevappa said that Kanavi will be invited at his Dharwad residence.
Dasara Kreeda Jyoti, film festival, food festival, adventure sports, flower show, book expo among other events will be held, which will be presided over by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on October 1.
On October 2, Raitha Sadara, half marathon, public suryanamaskara, Makkala Dasara among others will be inaugurated.
On October 3, Farmers’ sports meet, Women’s empowerment rally, women entrepreneurs and SHG’s product expo among others will be inaugurated.
On October 4, farmers’ rally, cultural programme by school students, caring and sharing programme for senior citizens, district-level farmers’ Dasara will be held.
Rural sports, Yoga convention, kite festival, national-level Dasra sports meet will be held on October 5, while on October 6 cultural programmes of taluk levels, competitions for farmers, special sports events for women and children, sports events for specially abled and Palace Police band show will be hosted.
Poets’ meet, regional poets’ meet, Gamaka Kannada events and Hamaka Vacana programmes will be held on October 7. Poets meet at Jagan Mohan palace and taluk-level cultural events will be held on October 8.
Cyclathon, state-level yoga competition, valedictory programme of national-level sports event and Youth dasara will be held on October 9.
On October 11, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will offer prayers to ‘Nandi Dwaja’ before the start of world famous ‘Jumbo Savari’.
