Mysuru: Mysuru city will be competing with more than 4000 cities across the country for the cleanest city tag as compared to 434 cities last year.
D Randeep , Deputy Commissioner said, “Since the last one month we have been conducting Swachata programme through Shramadan, with support from local residents and various organisations. It is not possible for the corporation alone to keep the city neat and clean. All should join hands to keep the city neat and clean. Already, I have issued a circular to all the government departments to conduct a cleanliness drive once in a month. To see the upkeep of Mysuru city, Swachata team from Delhi will be visiting Mysuru city after January 4.”
“When compared to last year, where 434 cities across the country took part in the race for cleanest city tag, this year more than 4000 cities across the country including local bodies which also include eight local bodies from Mysuru district like T Narasipur, H D Kote, proposed new taluk Sargur apart from Mysuru City Corporation will be eyeing for cleanest city tag. Our ideal aim is to be on top but going by the number of cities participating even if we retain the fifth position it will also be an achievement”, added Randeep.
