CM’s son Rakesh’ mortal remains to reach tomorrow, funeral on Monday

Mysuru: The last rites of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Rakesh who passed away on Saturday, July 30 at Belgium will be held on Monday at Katur in Jayapura. Rakesh’s mortal remians will be brought to Bengaluru on Sunday.

Sources from State Congress office said that Rakesh’s mortal remains are expected to reach Bengaluru by Sunday afternoon in a special flight. CM Siddaramaiah and his family members will accompany the body, sources said.

Rakesh passed away at a hospital in Brussels on Saturday afternoon due to multiple organ failure despite intensive treatment.

The demise of Rakesh has sent shock waves for his associates and youth Congress members, as he was projected as Siddaramaiah’s political heir. Rakesh was keen on contesting election from Varuna constituency in Mysuru.

His body will be taken to his native place at Katur in Jayapura, where the last rites and cremation will be done.

Hundreds of flexes and banners in condolence had popped up across the city within hours of his demise.

Rakesh had been to Belgium for a tour, during the course of which he developed pancreatic problem and was admitted to Brussels Antewerp University Hospital. He was suffering from severe stomach pain for which he was admitted to the hospital, but later it came to light that he was suffering from severe pancreatic problem which forced even Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi and younger son Dr Yathindra to go to Belgium on Friday. Rakesh had celebrated his 39th birthday just a few days back.
