Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah unveiled the life-size statue of Sri Jayachamaraja Wodeyar, the 25th and last Maharaja of Mysuru at Hardinge Circle on Sunday.
Rajamatha Pramoda Devi Wodeyar and newlywed Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar and Trishika became witness to the same.
In recognition to valuable services to the State, the statue of Jayachamaraja Wodeyar was installed at the historical Hardinge circle which is a major intersection in the heart of the city that connects six major roads.
The marble statue mounts on a circle with an Indo-Saracenic styled Mantap over it. This stands on similar lines as that of the statue of Krishnaraja Wodeyar and Chamaraja Wodeyar statues installed in Krishnaraja circle and Charamaraja circle respectively. The sculptor Arun Yogara who got appreciation from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took nine months to come out with this statue which is constructed at the cost of Rs 5 crore which includes developmental works at the vicinity of the circle.
Ganapathy case
Earlier speaking to media persons at Mandakkalli Airport, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah speaking on Ganapathi suicide case said, “Ganapathi suicide case has been unnecessarily dragged by the BJP leaders and are trying to take advantage of the situation. They are misleading the people for their political gain”. Speaking about long pending Kalasa-Banduri Nala Yojan Siddaramaiah said, “Although the conflict between Goa and Karnataka over Mahadayi Kalasa- Banduri drinking water project can be resolved with the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is unfortunate that he is not cooperating with our state government and is not taking a lead to resolve the dispute.”
District In-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa, MLA’s M K Somashekhar, Vasu, G T Devegowda, DC Shikha, MCC Commissioner C G Betsurmath, President of KEA R Murthy, CADA President C Dase Gowda, Mayor Bhrappa, Deputy Mayor Vanitha Prasanna, Police Commissioner B Dayanand were also present.
