Mysuru: Here is Dasara bonanza for people of Mysuru especially for the business and tourist people who were unable to travel by commercial flights till November 17, 2015. The services will resume from September 15. Everyday Trujet will be operating a flight from Chennai to Mysuru. Now with this air connectivity, from Mysuru one can reach Chennai in just 1 hour 20 minutes.
After a lot of efforts from elected representatives and bureaucrats to operate flight from Mysuru including having meeting with Additional Chief Secretary in Bengaluru on August 31 and Manoj Kumar Singh, Airport Director, Mysuru attending a meeting in Chennai on August 28, the Airline authorities have given their nod to operate flights from September 15. Under UDAN scheme, for a journey of less than one hour and within 500 km, the fare is fixed at Rs 2500 which is expected to encourage air travel. To start with, the flight from Mysuru will be directly to Chennai.
On September 15, flight from Chennai towards Mysuru will depart at 5.25 pm and reach Mysuru at 6.40 pm. After 25 minutes break, the flight will depart Mysuru at 7.05 pm and reach Chennai at 8.20 pm. In between there will be no stoppages.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Manoj Kumar Singh said, “The airline authorities have given their clearance for operation of flights from Mysuru and online booking for the same has already been started.”
This is for the fourth time that the commercial air services are being introduced from Mysuru. For the first time, the service was introduced in March 2010 by Kingfisher Airlines between Mysuru and Bengaluru. Due to low patronage, it stopped its service in October 2011. Later Spice Jet introduced its flights in January 2013 and stopped for the same reason in October 2014. Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India launched its service in September 2015, operated only for 74 days and later stopped its service.
Commercial flights to be operated from Sep 15:
Flight No 2T426 Chennai to Mysuru–Departs at 5.25 pm and arrive at Mysuru at 6.40 pm.
Flight No 2T427 Mysuru to Chennai–Departs at 7.05 pm and arrive at Chennai at 8.20 pm.
