Mysuru: As the Congress government in Karnataka completes two years in office, Pushpa Amarnath, Vice President of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, lauded the administration’s achievement in fulfilling its five key guarantees. Speaking at an event at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium on Friday, she said the schemes have positively impacted seven crore people across the state.

Despite facing political resistance and logistical hurdles, the state government successfully rolled out the promises. Interestingly, Pushpa noted that “states which initially opposed the guarantees are now adopting them,” suggesting the model’s growing influence.

She highlighted how the schemes empowered women, calling it a “second wave of independence.” The Shakti scheme, she said, enabled women to travel safely and confidently. The Anna Bhagya programme helped eradicate hunger for millions. Gruha Jyoti ensured free electricity for households, while Yuva Nidhi gave unemployed youth a new sense of hope. Through Gruha Lakshmi, women could take steps towards financial independence, she added.

To commemorate this milestone, a Sadhana Convention is scheduled for Tuesday in Hospet, where AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge will inaugurate the event. Key leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, will be present alongside officials and committee members from eight districts of the Mysuru division.

The occasion is not just a celebration of governance but also a political statement — showcasing delivery against promises in an era where public trust is paramount.
