Mysuru: It’s an open secret that a lot of sarkari babus “gulp” money and it is a connotation attached to bribery! Here is an instance, that goes beyond the boundaries of connotation! An assistant sub-inspector of police attached to the Krishna Raja Police Station in the city was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) squad while he was accepting bribe on Monday night. Fearing action from ACB, in order to destroy evidence, ASI Ramesh swallowed four Rs 500 notes.
According to sources, K R Traffic Police ASI Ramesh Kumar had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 from Dharmendra in connection with an autorickshaw mishap. On a tip off, ACB SP Kavitha and Inspector Anil Kumar in a surprise raid caught Ramesh red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000. When Ramesh was taken to K R Police, he swallowed four Rs 500 notes! Though the ACB officials tried their level best to retrieve it, they couldn’t be successful. Later ACB staff members took Ramesh to K R Hospital to get a scan done. Now, the ACB authorities are awaiting scanning report. Constable Malleshappa, an accomplice of ASI Ramesh Kumar has also been taken into custody by ACB.
Both the policemen have been remanded to judicial custody. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
