Dacoit shot in leg after attacking police during escape attempt near Mysuru
In a dramatic turn of events near Gopalpura on Friday night, Mysuru district police apprehended a dacoity accused by shooting him in the leg after he tried to flee, violently assaulting officers in the process.
The arrested individual, identified as Adarsh from Kerala, was one of three culprits previously arrested for robbing a Kerala-based businessman near Harohalli under Jayapura Police Station limits, Mysuru ASP C. Mallik confirmed, as reported by Deccan Herald.
While being taken for a spot investigation near Gopalpura, Adarsh pretended to need a restroom break. Seizing the opportunity, he attempted to escape and hurled a liquor bottle at Jayapura Sub-Inspector Prakash and Constable Harish, injuring them.
Despite Mysuru Circle Inspector Shivanand Shetty firing a warning shot in the air, Adarsh continued to charge at the officers. Bylakuppe Circle Inspector swiftly intervened, shooting Adarsh in the left leg below the knee to neutralise the threat.
The injured officers are currently receiving treatment at KR Hospital, while Adarsh is being treated at Trauma Care Hospital on KRS Road.
Superintendent of Police N. Vishnuvardhana and ASP C. Mallik promptly visited the scene and later checked on the injured officers and Adarsh at their respective hospitals.
