Mysuru: The call for a Mysuru Bandh on November 22 given by Dalit organisations demanding action against BJP leader Go.Madhusudan was forcibly enforced in the city, despite the city police commissioner having denied permission to the organisers.
However scores of Dalit youth took to the streets, ignoring the caution issued by police commissioner and forcibly went about shutting down shops and establishments in prime areas of the city, including rural bus stand, Town hall, Devaraja Urs road as the police personnel stood mute spectators to the entire spectacle in the morning hours. The protestors even blocked buses at few places thus throwing traffic out of gear. A memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner demanding immediate action against Go.Madhusudan for the derogatory remarks made by him against Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar, chief architect of Indian constitution during an interaction with a private media channel.
Though the commissioner had warned of action against anyone found inflicting trouble, via a press release on November 21 the forceful bandh left the shopkeepers irritated who were seen grumbling against the police inaction.
