Dalit students and research scholars at the University of Mysore‘s Manasagangotri campus staged a protest on Thursday, demanding the dismissal of a university officer who allegedly removed a banner of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar put up for Ambedkar Jayanti. The students claimed that while they have been protesting since Wednesday, the administration merely relieved the officer of his duties instead of terminating him. They vowed to continue the protest until their demand is met. In response, authorities deployed tight police security on campus to prevent any escalation.
