Mysuru: The Palace Administration Board has decided to extend the illumination timings at the world renowned Amba Vilas Palace by one hour this year during Dasara.
Disclosing the details, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Palace Administartion Board said the new timings would be between 7 pm and 10 pm to facilitate visitors and tourists.
The illumination timings at prime locations will also be extended by an hour after holding consultations with CHESCOM, the power supply company, DC Randeep clarified.
Majority of the people witnessing cultural programmes at the palace premises during Dasara used to leave the venue, the moment the palace administration used to switch off the palace lights. The new measure will not only ensure the crowds are retained but also gives an opportunity for the tourists and visitors to spend more time in the beautiful city.
Emphasis on Clean Dasara
The administration has decided to maintain cleanliness in the city during nights this year. In each of the 65 wards, conservancy workers will be deputed to oversee cleaning to ensure the culture city retains its clean tag. In all, five workers will ensure cleanliness in each of the wards and around 350 will be employed for the purpose.
