Mysuru: The venue of the annual water sports, which is conducted as part of Dasara celebration has been changed. Every year, the event used to be held at Varuna Lake, but this year the organizers have decided to conduct the event at the KRS backwaters, from October 9, for ten days.
Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, in association with General Thimmaiah of National Academy, have been holding water sports to promote adventure sports in Mysuru, during the time of Dasara celebration. The water sports events include thrilling Jet Ski, Banana ride, speed boat ride, Kayaking, Canoeing and still water rafting. There are different charges for the ride and even packages are also available.
The water sports event will be open for public daily between 9 am to 6 pm.
Speaking to Newskarnataka.com, Keerthi Pais, Advisor, General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure said, “When compared to Varuna Lake, KRS backwater is not only bigger but also has better scope for growth. Here, we have more possibilities. Apart from all this, it can be world class destination too. The one more advantage of KRS backwater is that due to the presence of rock we can also conduct rafting, rock climbing and other activities.”
