Mysuru: For the forthcoming world famous Dasara festival, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has already started beautifying the city. The proposal for Rs 20 Crore to take up various developmental activities has already been sent to the government. At the same time, the corporation has already started its works and all of it will be completed well before the commencement of the 10-day Dasara which is scheduled to start from October 10 and conclude on October 19.

To take up various developmental works across the city ahead of Dasara festival, the Mysuru City Corporation has requested the government to sanction Rs 20 Crore. This is to take up the works including road improvements, pothole fillings, electrical work, painting, planting medians, repairs of footpath and gardening. Last year too the corporation had requested the government for Rs 20 Crore but received only Rs 10 Crore.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Jagadish, Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation said, “Though we have proposed for Rs 20 Crore for taking up various developmental works, we will not be waiting for approval. We have already started the work. To take up cleaning work round the clock, we will also be getting additional Pourakarmikas and other required staffs. Apart from this, this year we will also be coming out with more mobile toilet facilities. Usually for public, drinking water was provided through tankers but most of them were not using the water for drinking purpose. Hence, this year we have decided to come out with alternate facilities for providing drinking water to public.”

During Dasara city attracts people from not only across the country but even from many foreign countries: Many tourists plan their visit to Mysuru during Dasara time. The tourists during this time come in large numbers to the city. Most of the hotels will be booked and it will be very difficult to get rooms.
