Mysuru: The II additional District and sessions court here has ordered a 2 year prison term to government hospital doctor and slammed a penalty of Rs 3.25 lakh for sexually assaulting a nurse. The judgement was based on the death note left behind by the victim before ending life.

Doctor Harish used to sexually harass a nurse, employed at a government Primary Health Center (PHC) in Bilikere of Hunsur taluk repeatedly. The complaint lodged by her with higher-ups did not yield any results and subsequently, the nurse ended life in the hospital on January 1, 2010 by consuming toxic pills. The police registered a case against the doctor and filed a charge-sheet in the court.
Judge Vijayakumar, who dealt with the case, pronounced two years of rigorous imprisonment to doctor Harish and a fine of Rs 3.25 lakh.

At the same time he ordered to give Rs 3 lakh to the deceased nurse’s family from the fine amount of 3.25 lakh.
