Mysuru: The decision by the Union government to demonetise certain denominations of currency notes has led to adverse effects on many businesses and trades. Mysuru Dasara exhibition is one of them.
The exhibition, which usually sees a large number of visitors, has witnessed a drastic fall in the numbers. The gate fee collection and the business inside the exhibition have come down by 70 per cent owing to ban on higher denomination notes.
According to Shashikumar, Chief Executive Officer of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA), after the decision of demonetisation was announced on November 8, the visitors’ numbers on weekends had come down from 25,000-30,000 to 15,000-17,000. The gate collections have come down from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 75,000 per day on weekdays, he said.
Collections at amusement and games too have come down, said Shashikumar.
