Following the presence bird flu (H5N1 virus Avian Influenza) at a poultry farm in Bidar the authorities have taken this decision.

As per the zoo procedure, 50 kg of chicken and 90 eggs are fed everyday to the animals under the surveillance of the managers. Some of the selected birds are fed eggs and they are being observed every day. Faecal samples are also regularly collected and tested.

Currently, the tourists are asked to rinse their feet in a sanitizer at the main entrance, so that the possibility of virus spreading might get decreased.

Scientist at the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RDDL) of the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals (IAHVB), Mysuru, Dr Dharnesh had said that, no repeated deaths of chicken is reported at Mysuru region, particularly after the Bidar episode.
