Mysuru: The district administration’s Krishna Janmashtami program held at Kala Mandir on August 25 turned out to be a big flop show with 15 dignitaries on dais and 30 people as audience.
The festival celebrated across the nation with traditional fervor drew lukewarm response in the city with only 30 people in attendance in an auditorium that could accommodate 2500 people at once. The government of Karnataka had issued orders to celebrate the festival at district level, but when none of the main dignitaries turned up, it drew flak from the audience who attended the celebration.
The district in-charge minister, Deputy Commissioner and city police commissioner were among the original invitees. They were replaced by second rung leaders and officials.
The two hour long program had no takers as everyone wanted the program to end sooner than later. Among those who took part felt that it was a wasted effort by the district administration using public money to complete mere formality with no proper planning.
