Mysuru: Security has been stepped up in Mysuru district in wake of the state-wide bundh called for in connection to Cauvery water dispute on September 9.
“Holiday has been declared to schools and colleges as precautionary measure. Police will be deputed on duty from 5.30 amon Friday. However, no individual or organisation can force any commercial establishment to pull down shutters. Blocking roads, burning tyres and damaging public and private properties will not be allowed”, said Mysuru City police Commissioner B Dayananda.
Superintendent of Police Ravi D Chennannavar said that police have been instructed taluk-wise to make necessary security arrangements. All the city and rural route buses have been asked to remain in the depot during the bundh and even buses plying between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been called back.
