Mysuru: After a wonderful show that left onlookers yearning for more, on Wednesday, it was time for the Dasara elephants, their Mahouts and the Kavadis to relax.
The hustle-bustle around the palace has died down and while the elephants were lazying around, the Mahouts and the Kavadis were seen catching up with the sleep on Wednesday, as they had sacrificed it for several nights before the Dasara event.
Tuesday was a busy day for the Mahouts and the Kavadis. Arjuna, who carried the 750kg golden howdah with ease for sixth time and other elephants were given oil massage and hot bath on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sannappa, who took the charge of Mahout for Arjuna for the first time was a busy man as people made a beeline near Arjuna’s camp to have glimpses of the heartthrob pachyderm. Sannappa invariably had to stay put near Arjuna answering all the queries that Arjuna’s fans had about the star.
Ganesh Bhatt, DCF said that the elephants are scheduled to return to their respective camps on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, as per the tradition, the mahouts and kavadis and their families will be given breakfast by the district administration. Later the first batch of six elephants including Golden Howdah elephant Arjuna will be sent back to their respective place and on Friday the rest of the elephants will be sent back to their places.
