Mysuru: A 57-year-old farmer who was unable to repay his loans owing to crop failure committed suicide on Tuesday, near Kalammanakoppalu village in KR Nagar taluk.
Ajjegowda is the deceased farmer. He is survived by a wife, two sons and a daughter.
The farmer allegedly consumed poison on Sunday, January 3, in his field and was admitted to K R Hospital in Mysuru. However, he failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last at the hospital.
He had taken a loan of Rs 30,000 from Karnataka Bank, Rs 35,000 from a co-operative society and a hand loan of Rs 1 lakh. He took the extreme step over crop failure and debt.
Tahshildar Nagaraju, assistant Tahshildar Timmaiah visited the house of deceased farmer’s kin.
