Mysuru: A gang of thieves burgled five jewellery shops on the auspicious day of Varamahalaxmi Pooja, which was recorded in a CCTV installed near Garadigeri in Lashkar police station limits.
When everyone was celebrating the festival, this gang of thieves burgled five jewellery shops and decamped with 120 grams of gold. The thieves targeted shops on Ashoka road and did not even spare gold-silver powder procured as wastage in a gold making shop along with valuables. In the CCTV footage, a thief is seen walking with iron rod.
A complaint has been filed lodged by the shop owners with Lashkar police.
Following theft in over 10 shops in the recent past, a meeting of gold-silver merchants was called by Lashkar station inspector Kantharaju. In the meeting inspector caught himself in controversy for asking shop owners to install CCTVs and patrol in the night as there is shortage of police staff. The merchants now have decided to meet city police commissioner.
