Mysuru: The tourists are being put to discomfort inside Mysuru Palace. Some time ago, the then Deputy Commissioner D Randeep had removed the barricades to allow the visitors free access inside the palace premises but now they are put up again. Additional Deputy Commissioner Yogesh assured to take action including serving a notice if the authorities were found violating rules and regulation and inconveniencing the tourists by forcing them to follow a certain route.

It may be recalled that even after the then deputy commissioner D Randeep repeatedly telling Palace Board officials including its Deputy Director Subramanya to remove the barricades, it was not done. Randeep, during his visit to palace, in the presence of Subramanya, had himself along with few other staff members had lifted the barricades and made way for smooth flow of tourists. But again after Randeep was transferred, the irresponsible palace officials have put up the barricades and tourists are being put to lot of inconvenience.

The visitors are inconvenienced in south block where a boy blocks the way with a barricade and directs them to the shop road. Many a times visitors also argued with the boy for forcing them to enter shop road. V Karthik, who was one among the tourists who was diverted towards the shop road, said, “It’s not fair on the part of the authorities to force the tourists to buy things or walk on the shop road. I was surprised to see the boy forcing us to move towards the shop road.” When questioned about the same, the boy said, “I am forcing them towards shop road only because they can buy something from the shops.”

When this was brought to the notice of Yogesh, Additional Deputy Commissioner who is also Director of Palace Board, said, “If it was removed and then placed again, action will be taken against the palace board authorities. Infact last time, it was also discussed that a notice must be issued . If there is any violation found, we will take appropriate action against the authorities.”
