Mysuru: The last rites of former minister and daughter of late Chief Minister Devraj Urs, Chandraprabha Urs, was held here at her home town, Kallahalli with full state honours today.

Chandraprabha Urs died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday.

It is learnt that three months ago she had paid a visit in an ambulance to her native place Kallahalli and offered prayers at her father’s grave despite being ill and she had urged the village heads to hold her last rites after death, next to her father’s grave.

According to her wish, the last rites were performed in the Kallahalli farm with her son Manjunath setting fire to the pyre.

Meanwhile, Mysuru royal family Queen Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and Yaduveer did not pay their last respects, which gave an indication that the rift between the two royal families has not yet ceased.

During the day, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwar duly paid their last respects.
