In Nanjangud town of Mysuru district, three young girls who had gone missing early in the morning were safely traced and reunited with their families, thanks to timely public alert and the free bus travel scheme for women in Karnataka.
The incident unfolded in the Ashokapuram area, where three schoolgirls—
- Yash (11), daughter of Muddayaiah
 - Sinchana (10), daughter of Siddharaju
 - Amulya (10), daughter of another Siddharaju—
students of Neelkantheshwar Private School, were reported missing.
The girls had taken their Aadhaar cards and a change of clothes before leaving home, raising alarm among parents and guardians, who promptly filed a missing complaint at Nanjangud City Police Station.
Locals later spotted the trio boarding a government bus to Dharmasthala at the old bus stand in Nanjangud. The sighting was quickly reported to the authorities.
The state’s free bus scheme for women, which enabled the girls to travel without needing money, played a key role in tracking their movement. Police and family members acted on the tip, leading to the safe return of the girls.
