The Forest Department had placed a cage at one end of the pipe line, following inputs from the villagers. At the other end, they injected smoke and the confused feline which ran towards the cage end finally got trapped.

The people in the Heggadahalli of Nanjanagud taluk and surrounding areas were worried since the big cat was hunting down many domestic animals. Farmers were scared to go to their fields at night as the troublemaker roamed free.

The moment they traced it near the backwaters of Kabini, they informed the forest officials who laid a trap and succeeded in capturing the big feline.
