Mysuru: Angry parents boycotted a government school in Varuna which comes under the Chief minister Siddaramaiah’s constituency and refused to send their children to study there, owing to the poor condition in which the school has been maintained and lack of basic facilities.
The incident occured in Gurumadanahalli. It has been reported that students belonging to this Government school have been studying under leaking roofs, with broken tiles, in classrooms with damaged floors and broken benches. Even after several complaints to representatives and senior officials, no action has been taken, according to the furious parents.
Utterly frustrated, the parents then forced the school authorities to provide their children with Transfer Certificates and threatened to stop sending the children to school. When the school teachers tried to convince them, the villagers shouted slogans against the school and protested.
“Without providing basic facilties how can you convince us to send our children?” they questioned.
The parents have urged the authorities to provide necessary facilities in the school or else give them TC’s so that they can send their children to better schools. Few associations too have joined the parents in the protest.
