Mysuru: “The government should withdraw non-bailable cases booked against 30 farmers who had protested against the setting up of thermal power plant at Chamalapura in H.D.Kote taluk in 2007 and 2008” said Advocate S. Arun Kumar addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan on Saturday August 22.

He stated that they had objected to it in the interest of protecting their lands and environment that has contributed a lot to Mysuru emerging as the Cleanest City in the country. After the proposal tto set up the plant was dropped it has only worked towards the welfare of Mysuru.

He further justified saying that the Government has withdrawn cases against activists of SDPI and PFI relating to the communal clashes that rocked the city in 2009, asking it to apply the same criteria concerning cases filed against 18 persons (case number 3519/2008) and another 12 persons (case number 2575/2008) under Sections 340, 353 and 149 of the IPC at the N. R. Police Station.

Several farmers along with JD(S) leaders Azizulla, D.M.Shariff and Asghar Ahmed were present.
