Mysuru: The State Government have directed industries, factories and commercial establishment to give a day’s paid holiday to its employees to facilitate them to cast their votes in the Gram Panchayat elections today, on May 29 and on June 2.
According to a circular issued by the Director of Factories and Boilers – Bengaluru, the employers of industries that function continuously are directed to provide their staff with two-hour time to cast their votes in the election.
Mysore Industries Association (MIA), has in a press release, requested all industrial and commercial establishments to declare paid holiday and two hours time to the employees of industries functioning continuously to facilitate the casting of votes in Gram Panchayat.
Meanwhile, the mustering process of poll officials deputed in Mysuru taluk commenced at Maharaja PU College premises at 11 am this morning. Around 15 information centres were present at the venue to help the officials.
Tahsildar of Mysuru taluk Naveen Joseph, who was present at the venue, said that 336 teams having 4 officials in each team will be dispatched to their respective polling booths within 3 pm today.
All arrangements are in place for the Gram Panchayat elections to elect 4,744 members to 1,849 constituencies in 266 Gram Panchayats in Mysuru district. A total of 13,339 contenders will be vying for a total of 4,487 posts. The total electorate comprises 14,09,576 including 6,91,548 women and 7,18,028 men. The State Government has declared a holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act in jurisdictional GP limits on May 29.
