Mysuru: “Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh deserved life imprisonment and the CBI will move higher court but I am happy because the case reached a logical conclusion,” said former CBI officer, who cracked the case.
“I am happy because the judicial system is still strong and vibrant in our country”, said Mulinja Narayan, speaking to reporters in Mysuru.
“The day I got the case, my superior walked into my room and said that this case was being given to me for closing it,” Narayan said and added despite threats, he had refused to bend down.
Going down the memory lane, Narayan said “The case had come to me on High Court orders. The FIR had been registered in 2002 but for five years nothing had happened. Then the court ordered the case to be given to someone in CBI who would not be influenced. I told my superior that the investigation will go on, and I would not obey his orders,” he added.
“Many MPs and politicians, including top leaders, called me for obvious reasons. But I did not come under pressure. That the case had been handed over by High Court helped,” he recalled.
“I handled three cases with utmost honesty without buckling under pressure. I am very happy because women who cried for justice got their due,” Narayan stated.
“I was attacked thrice in the past and I have handled critical cases including Babri Masjid and Rajiv Gandhi’s killing case. Fearing death, one can’t survive and have to deliver when jobs are assigned without bowing to pressure”, said Narayan, egging serving investigation officers.
