Mysuru: The Mysuru Railway Station witnessed a bomb scare here on Tuesday, April 25. The call was later found to be a hoax.
Tension gripped the railway station while officials of Mysuru City Police, the government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force searched the entire premises. Around 2.45pm, a man called Mandya police control room about a bomb at Mandya and Mysuru railway station. The control room personnel in turn informed Mandi Mohalla Police station who alerted GRP and RPF. Within few minutes bomb squad and dog’s squads reached railway station and searched entire railway station including trains, all the platforms, shops and offices. For nearly three hours, city police, GRP and RPF scanned the entire area before declaring it a hoax call.
Prakash Panda, Division Security Commissioner (Railway Protection Force), Mysuru division, South Western Railway said “Around 2.45pm, we received complaint from Mandi Police station that they received an anonymous call informing that a bomb had been kept at Mandya and Mysuru railway station. We along with GRP and city police checked entire railway station, luggages were scanned, subway and all the platforms were checked and later we came to know it was a hoax call. GRP will give complaint to civil police who in turn will search for the person who made the call. We also alerted Bengaluru division as Mandya comes under their jurisdiction”. Though the security personnel conducted a search at the entire railway station, none of the trains got delayed in the process.
